Mar 30, 12:40 AM (ET)Don't know what this means, exactly, and other than Drudge, I don't see that anybody else has this yet.
ATLANTA (AP) - A federal appeals court early Wednesday agreed to consider a petition for a new hearing on whether to reconnect Terri Schiavo's feeding tube.
The ruling by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals came as the severely brain-damaged woman entered her 13th day without nourishment.
Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, have maintained that Schiavo would want to be kept alive and have asked the courts to intervene. Schiavo's husband, Michael, insists he is carrying out her wishes by having the feeding tube pulled.
UPDATE: I emailed Tim at Blogs for Terri (apparently he's a night owl, too) and he's posted the link. Still don't know what this will mean. I would hope there'd be an automatic stay so that they could start Terri on IV fluids, perhaps. I have absolutely no medical background, but I'm guessing that would be helpful after 12 days without food and water.
Praying that this will actually amount to something, and that it won't be too late.
UPDATE TWO: Here's a longer AP article with a little more detail.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled without comment on Schiavo's 12th day without nourishment. Last week, the same court twice ruled against Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, who are trying to keep her alive.
In seeking a new hearing late Tuesday, attorneys for Schiavo's parents argued that the District Court "committed plain error when it reviewed only the state court case and outcome history."
Now, the court will consider the request for a new hearing based on the facts of the case, rather than whether previous Florida court rulings have met legal standards under state law.
There was no time frame for the court to consider the motion, but the Schindler's attorneys asked to have the tube reinserted immediately "in light of the magnitude of what is at stake and the urgency of the action required."

Has anyone asked the question, "Is there money involved". In politics you always ask this question to determine what decisional influences there are. In this case, are there outside sources (i.e. Insurance Companyis that don't have to pay for years of Med. service if the feeding tube is withdrawn? Only a one time payout".... Anyway, it sounds bad but has this been explored?
The real question is, is this for real or just wishful thinking? What did the 11th actully rule on, this late?
Sorry to play Cassandra, but...
The ridiculous mockery of the Sanctity of Life Vs. the so called Sanctity of Marriage
(HE SHOULD HAVE MARRIED THE COW?)
Sanctity of Life, sanctity of marriage... how dare we to advocate sanctity of anything in view of the Schindler-Schiavo case?. A priest, speaking on TV highlighted the case of a man in Florida who is presently serving five years in jail for starving to death, a cow. Is this an example of how our courts view sanctity of life, even for a cow?. How about Teresa Schindler – I refuse to call her by her married name; if her husband wants her dead, why should she bear his name?—
Apparently, the persons whom advocated for the cow in question, in spite of not finding a Living Will in writing, which could stand up in court, pressed charges of abuse and neglect that resulted on a sentence for the perpetrator. However, Terri, a human being has not been given anything by the courts but a denial of her rights as such?. And worse yet, supported Mr. Schiavo’s decision to terminate her life, without ever producing any document verifying what he claims she said about not being kept alive. He has not even produced a friend nor acquaintance that can support his claim as to what she allegedly said regarding. And nobody has questioned his motives nor try to persuade him to relinquish his so called custody, to her parents. This is not beyond the benefit of the doubt / ‘’reasonable doubt’’ of motives.
Nobody has bothered to investigate more deeply into the Potassium deficiency that supposedly brought her into her present condition. I am no expert, but Potassium levels play an important role and can cause the heart to stop; the ratio of potassium and Iron in the blood have a relationship. Years ago, a woman suffered a heart attack after too much Potassium in her blood. She was even embalmed and buried; yet, the persistency of the investigator a year later and technology allowed a closer examination of iron and potassium levels. After exhuming her body, those levels eventually sent her husband to jail. Why is Mr. Schiavo so adamant about retaining custody, why doesn’t he release her to her parents, what is he hiding?. Has anybody explore this possibility, and why not?.
Following on TV the developments of the very important life or death case of Terri Schindler, I’ve heard many persons speak, quoting the laws with their implications – which concern very seriously all of us-- and citing cases that bring into focus the disparity and unfairness in this case. In the meanwhile, we have all been, for years, at great cost and public exhortation, sending food and water to Bangladesh and every other remote corner of the planet. Even risking life and limb under hostile conditions, feeling sorry for one people or another on and on; lately more about the Tsunami victims.
I thought we voided slavery; no human being owns any other human being, none has any rights to do so. Yet, Terri is being treated as if a “thing”, the property of somebody, in this case Mr. Schiavo. What about her civil rights?. Prisoners on death row are there for committing crimes; not even those being executed get this treatment because it would violate their human rights and constitutes ‘’cruel and unusual punishment”.
It does not make sense, just as it wouldn’t make sense for the man that is serving five years for starving to death his cow, to claim it was his cow, his property to dispose of as he saw fit, because he considered himself to be married to the cow, to avoid the jail sentence.
I am not married, thanks God, since I live in Florida. I would feel this same way if Terri were a male, I have both male and female children and we each are getting a Living Will, specifying very clearly how they feel about this topic in their pre-nuptial agreements. For my part; I have expressed in countless occasions that regardless of my condition, to keep me alive as long as there is a glimpse of life; by any means technologically available, including cryo-bionics if it need be. And, oh yes, I don’t know much about laws regarding this in other states, but I am getting out of Florida!.

I removed a comment here for nasty, abusive, and vulgar language.
Not surprising, it was from someone who did not support Terri's right to life.
I did the same on my blog. The person was extremely rude persisting with the lie that Terri was PVS and that she had bulimia and a heart attack.
Keep up the good work.

p.s. please pray for my sister Maureen who is in intensive care. Her weight has dropped to 38 k.g.
My deepest from my heart condolences to the Schindler family. There are no good words of comfort any of us can say to them that can alleviate their pain We should all be mourning also for others that are in her position; and for ourselves, if laws are not revised, updated or changed to prevent a repetition of this tragedy.
The ultimate insult is that Mr. Schiavo refuses her family-her flesh and blood- claim her body for funeral and burial. What is his ‘vendetta’?. I doubt there could be anything Terri had possibly done to awaken such vicious and stubborn hatred.
