I always said that President Bush was a Catholic but he just didn't know it yet.
So I found this very interesting:
George W Bush and Pope Benedict XVI have held an intimate meeting in Rome as rumours mounted in Italy that the president may follow in Tony Blair's footsteps and convert to Catholicism.

However, it is thought unlikely that Mr Bush would convert until after he has left office. Jeb Bush, the president's brother, has already converted to Catholicism.
Catholics have noted that during the contested election in 2000, Jeb Bush travelled to Mexico and prayed to the icon of Our Lady of Guadelupe. His victory was announced by the Supreme Court on December 12, the feast day of the Lady of Guadelupe.

No Catholic would correctly claim this. Jeb did not pray to the icon, he prayed to God at the icon.
Well, of course. The reporter who wrote the linked article said he "prayed to the icon". Obviously, Catholics would interpret that to mean that Jeb Bush traveled to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, probably knelt in front of the image of Mary on Juan Diego's tilma, and most likely prayed not to her icon but to her, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, for her intercession with her Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, a quick summary:
1) We Catholic don't pray to icons or idols.
2) We don't worship Mary.
3) We ask Mary and the saints for their intercession.
4) We worship God, we ask for His mercy, we thank Him, we pray to Him in supplication.
