A farewell post?

Dad29 asks if that previous post was, finally, my farewell post.

Well, not really, but it also really wasn't an "I'm back" post, either.

Frankly, I'm embarrassed that I abandoned this blog so completely. Recently I learned that some friends were stopping by occasionally to see if I'd posted anything, which made me feel even worse about dropping it. (I thought that my site traffic lately was just random hits!)

But -- here come the excuses -- with four kids in our homeschool from first grade to 10th, a home and garden to maintain, and the volunteer work I do for our homeschool group, there's not much time left for blogging. The fact is that every minute you spend facing the computer means you have your back to the rest of your life. I'd rather have it the other way 'round, most of the time.

I do miss blogging, though. It was a kick "meeting" people from all over the world. I loved the sharing of ideas, the fun of getting linked, even the competitive nature of the blogosphere. I also loved being part of something that was so cutting edge and controversial, especially just before the last presidential election.

I truly appreciated the encouragement I got from so many great bloggers, the interesting comments posted by friends and friends as well as complete strangers, and the support from my husband and kids (who still want me to blog, by the way.)

But I just don't have time for blogging right now.

This is my farewell post.

Maybe just this one last post...

My teenage daughters are telling me it's shameful that I haven't blogged since December.

They're right, it is, because I didn't even write a "farewell" post.

So, they tell me to write something, just a quick little post. They said I should link to the eagle cam that we're currently obsessed with.

They say I should write about the truck that fell off an expressway ramp today in Milwaukee and landed 27 feet below on I-94. The truck driver survived with only minor injuries; the semi-truck was reduced to scrap metal.

So, there you have it.
