Depressing takeover of Blogger

I just did something I haven't done since I started blogging a year ago: I hit the "Next Blog" button (upper right corner).

Well, it was very depressing. Virtually all of the blogs were junk blogs, spam blogs. "Windows XP and other stuff." "Home equity loans". "Payday loans." "Industrial Shelving Units."

I felt like I'd wandered into a bad part of town in the blogosphere. It used to be that you could occasionally find a good blog that way, but my little experiment seems to indicate you can't anymore.

Just so you know, there is a new button at the top to flag offensive sites and bring them to the attention of Blogger.

Yes, I saw that button. But none of them were really offensive; just annoying. I didn't see the point in flagging them all.

It's not just the spam-blogs that are annoying these days, there's spam-comments too... [Disclaimer: this isn't one of them ;) ]

I would still encourage you to flag any spam-blogs you happen to come across. It's not much, but at least it's something. And activate the word verification feature if you want to cut down on the spam-comments.

That's really odd. I've been pressing the "Next Blog" button all day, and I still haven't found a spamblog. Spam comments, however, seem to be on the rise.

Ooops, M.E., I hit the Flag button up above. (Only kidding, I think.) I've actually trolled the Next-Blog-osphere on a few occasions, and the only things that bothered me were (1) raw language and content; and (2) annoying "music" upon arrival at the site. Spam sites that didn't bite back seemed innocuous to me. Of course, I've never been spammed in comments, except by a real person making snitty remarks that majorly ticked me off.
